The Project-in- a-Box (PiB) team is currently recruiting members for project development. PiB is a student run organization supported by the ECE department to help build project kits that would cater towards developing hands-on engineering skills.

Positions are open for volunteers to help create projects focused on teaching specific concepts: controls, machine learning, digital signal processing, robotics, IOT, and more. Through these topics the PiB team is working on a variety of projects including: quadcopter, RC car, face recognition program, full stack IoT and many others.

Skills required: programming (any language), hardware (Arduino, Raspberry Pi), and knowledge in any of the specific areas mentioned above.

Students of all experience backgrounds are encouraged to apply (undergrad and graduate).

Test Engineer I – San Diego, CA

The Test Engineer will be responsible for providing assistance to technical engineers on the MVNO TAM team with the goal of improving the efficiency and productivity of the team that works on mobile software product development and carrier approval of models. Job Overview

The candidate will be a member of Qualcomm's Connected Camera Systems Team and will be responsible for developing new IP camera features encompassing 2D/3D Image Capture, Image/Video Post-Processing etc. The main responsibility is to develop and optimize advanced image processing features such as High Dynamic Range, Motion Compensated Temporal Filter, Fisheye Lenses Correction, etc. in embedded systems. The candidate may need to provide support to domestic and international customers.


Minimum Qualifications

5+ years industry experience required in the following areas:

·  Development experience in the IP (security or surveillance) camera industry

·  Camera signal processing, ISP pipeline, and computer vision

We are looking for undergraduates in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and related majors with experience in Internet of Things (IoT) to aid in the research and development of IoT projects taking place here at the Qualcomm Institute (Calit2).

This is an unpaid internship; however, arrangements can be made to earn academic credit as an ECE 199 or CSE 199 (Independent Study) course, which can be used towards satisfying technical electives. Also, if students' skills are satisfied enough, they can have a chance to attend several Hackathons with other undergraduate interns.

For this project, it is recommended that students have:

  • Experience using development boards, such as the Dragonboard 410c, Raspberry Pi, chipKIT, etc.
  • General programming knowledge, especially in C/C++ and Python 2/3
  • Ability to implement circuit components and I2C’s
  • Familiarity in receiving and sending data over serial communication
  • Basic knowledge of networking, such as sending data to/from the TCP and HTTP/2
  • Basic experience in using and navigating through BASH (command line shell)
  • Special programming knowledge such as NodeJS, AngularJS, Google's material design, Unity, and so forth
  • Knowledge in producing documentation (such as flow charts and state machine diagrams) is a plus
