Faculty Spotlight-Nuria González-Prelcic

Professor Nuria González-Prelcic joined the UC San Diego Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in July 2024 as a Full Professor. Before coming to UC San Diego, she was a faculty member in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University and preivsouly at the University of Vigo in Spain, where she founded and directed the Atlantic Research Center for Information and Communication Technologies (atlan TTic).

Prof. González-Prelcic received her Ph.D from the University of Vigo in 2000 and is internally recognized for her pioneering contributions to wireless communications and signal processing to the signal processing and system design of millimeter-wave wireless communications.

At UC San Diego, Prof. González-Prelcic is helping define how future wireless networks will do more than simply communicate. Her research group has pioneered the integration of sensing, learnin, and communication, shaping how wireless networks will simultaneously transmit data while perceiving their physical environment. This vision will enable wireless networks that not only deliver connectivity but also provide sensing services and leverage environmental awareness to enhance network performance.
