Overview

The Gary and Mary West Health Institute (WHI) is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) Medical Research Organization that works with healthcare providers and research institutions to create new, more effective ways of delivering care. We are wholly funded by philanthropists Gary and Mary West as part of West Health, four organizations with a common mission—pioneering new and smarter technologies, policies and practices, to make high-quality healthcare more accessible at a lower cost to all Americans.

About The Data Science Team

The role of the Data Science Team is to provide WHI research projects with quantitative insights and relevant data sources tailored to project goals. We extract, transform, merge, and load large data sources to create descriptive and predictive models of care. We provide visualizations and dashboards to drive insight into a wide variety of research areas for the West Mission. The Data Science team maintains a secure, customized HIPAA-compliant private cloud on AWS that supports all WHI research activities.
