University of California, San Diego, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for a non-tenure track Junior Specialist position. The primary duties of this position include work related to designing, manufacturing, and testing of endoscopic robotic medical systems. Secondary duties include assisting in the design, manufacturing and testing of other embedded systems pertaining to medical devices and involve managing and maintaining lab assets (lab equipment, material stock, computing).

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates with experience in embedded electromechanical design of robotic systems, specifically those pertaining to medical procedures, as well as exposure to rapid prototyping, both mechanical (3D printing, laser cutting, etc.) and electronics prototyping (breadboard, PCB design, etc.), and with experience or willingness to engage in activities that contribute to diversity and inclusion are especially encouraged to apply.
