Abstract

Optimal representation of the electromagnetic field is an important and well widely investigated topic. In this lecture, such a problem is discussed under the broader perspective of complexity. This approach is not only conceptually interesting, since it unifies the many different methods used in electromagnetic field representation, but has some practical relevant applications. Examples in antenna measurements, electromagnetic inverse source reconstruction and MIMO channel identification will clarify the potential of the approach. Seminar Speaker Bio
Marco Donald Migliore received the Laurea (Hons.) and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from the University of Naples, Naples, Italy. He is an Associate Professor with the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, Cassino, Italy, the director of the Microwave Laboratory and the Coordinator of the Information Engineering courses of the University of Cassino and Souther Lazio. He was a Visiting Professor with the University of San Diego in California, with the University of Rennes 1, Rennes, France, with the University of Kokkola, Finalnd, and a Speaker with the Summer Research Lecture Series of the UCSD CALIT2 Advanced Network Science (ANS) in 2008. His research interests include the connections between electromagnetism and information theory, the analysis, synthesis, and characterization of antennas in complex environments, MIMO antennas and propagation, ad hoc wireless networks, antenna measurements, and energetic applications of microwaves.

Prof. Migliore is a member of the ELEDIA@UniCAS research group, of the Italian Electromagnetic Society (SIEM) and of the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunication (CNIT).
