Post doctoral Scholar for Interdisciplinary Project in Machine Learning and Data Sciences.

We are recruiting a post-doctoral fellow to develop new sparsity driven signal processing and
machine learning techniques for high resolution tomography. The position will be for a joint
project between Professors. Bhaskar Rao, Peter Gerstoft and Piya Pal from Electrical and
Computer Engineering and Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The project aims to develop a
2D travel time tomographic method using unsupervised learning to generate very high
resolution geophysically relevant images.

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. with specialization in signal processing. A strong
background in compressed sensing, statistical signal processing, and good programming skills
(preferably to handle large data sets) are highly desirable. The candidate should be self
motivated to lead this interdisciplinary project. The compensation will be commensurate with the
level of experience.

Please submit a curriculum vitae to the following PI’s.

Bhaskar Rao http://dsp.ucsd.edu/ (brao@eng.ucsd.edu)
Peter Gerstoft http://noiselab.ucsd.edu/ (pgerstoft@ucsd.edu)
Piya Pal https://sites.google.com/a/eng.ucsd.edu/piya-pal/ (pipal@eng.ucsd.edu)

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
