I-20 Program Extension

What is an I-20 Program extension?

If your I-20 (F-1 students) or DS-2019 (J-1 students) will expire soon and you need additional time to complete your academic program, you must apply for a program extension at least 10 days before the program end date listed on your documents. Failure to extend your I-20 or DS-2019 in a timely manner may cause immigration issues, so please act accordingly.

See ISEO's website for more information about extending your program and how to apply via iPortal.

*Please note that this is for students who need to extend their program due to extenuating circumstances or whose I-20 expires prior to their 6 quarter time limit.*

How long does it take for an I-20 extension request to be processed?

Once an I-20 extension iPortal request is submitted, it will get routed to the ECE Department for review. It takes 3-5 business days for the department to process your iPortal request. After it is approved, it will be routed to ISEO for further review and your I-20 will be issued.
