This major intends to better prepare engineering students in the areas of social sciences and the humanities, as a response to the globalization of engineering and technology. We recognize that "engineering only" training may not be sufficient when students seek alternate career paths besides engineering upon graduation, such as in in the law, finance, and public policy sectors.

REQUIREMENTS
 

Lower Division (76 units): 

• Mathematics: Math 18, 20A, 20B, 20C, 20D, 20E

• Physics: PHYS 2A, 2B, 2C, and 2D or PHYS 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, and 4E

• Chemistry: CHEM 6A

• Electrical and Computer Engineering: ECE 15, 25, 30, 35, 45, and 65

• 2 Elective Courses in Social Sciences and Humanities Studies

Upper Division (68 units):

Breadth (24 units): ECE 100, 101, 102, 103, 107, and 109

Design (4 units): ECE 111 or 115 or 140B or 190, or 191 or 193H (Honors Students Only)

Electrical Engineering Electives (16 units): 4 upper-division engineering, mathematics, or physics courses
